At Wisetack, we’re building financially-responsible consumer lending products that help smaller, offline businesses thrive.
Founded in 2018 by a team of experienced fintech veterans whose prior experience includes PayPal, LinkedIn, Lending Club, and other leading companies, Wisetack is a well-funded early stage startup with strong early customer traction. We’re backed by leading VCs, including Greylock and Bain Capital, investors in Airbnb, LinkedIn, Instagram, Dropbox, and other leading companies. More About Us.
Managing credit risk effectively requires a solid understanding of the resultant financial impact of any credit-related decisions; analysts who are (or can become) equally versed in both functions are best suited for this role. If you’re passionate about extracting information from data, and coupling said information with a deep understanding of key business levers to propose improvements (strategic and / or operational), then you may be just what we’re looking for!
If your career has focused more on Credit Risk vs Finance (or vice versa), please don’t let that stop you from applying! Our team intentionally straddles both functions to better facilitate a learning environment for those interested in broadening their experience in either / both dimensions.
Credit Risk:
Credit Analysis - glean insights from (but not limited to):
borrower characteristics and performance, recommending improvements to credit eligibility, product assignment and / or pricing
KYC-centric data, proposing improvements to improve fraud mitigation and / or streamline the loan application process
funnel metrics, identifying areas where funnel constriction may lead to adverse borrower selection
Credit Operations - assist with the small (and ideally shrinking) subset of applications which require manual review
Merchant Underwriting - brainstorm and help refine the existing underwriting process through automation and / or eligibility changes
Production Validation - monitor implementation and modifications to KYC, credit eligibility, and pricing parameters
Finance:
Valuation - assessing the intrinsic value of our products, taking into account factors such as product structure, interest rates, loss curves, and capital costs
Finance Operations:
Loan Origination - determining and validating appropriate disbursement amounts, in coordination with our issuing bank partner
Secondary Transactions - facilitating purchases from our issuing bank partner(s) and sales to loan investors, along with accompanying cash movements and document submissions
Finance Close Process - liaising with external accounting resources to assist with the monthly close
Calculation and communication of SPV waterfall logic at each EOM
Skills / Requirements:
Data Wrangling - deep proficiency with SQL, bonus points for Python / R / MATLAB / SAS / similar
Process Automation - passionate about automating mundane tasks, helping the business scale and manage operational risk without relying on increasing headcount
Flexibility - willingness (and capability) to occasionally stretch beyond what is outlined above, plugging into other areas of the business wherever / whenever help is needed
Experience with consumer lending; familiarity with capital markets is a plus
5+ years professional experience (role will be calibrated to experience)
