We are looking for our first sales hire, a Director of Sales, to join our small team of 14 -- you’d be #15. Our team is remote and works from home offices around the US (and one in Mexico!).

This is a unique opportunity to build a sales process and team from the ground up. We are looking for an experienced sales professional who doesn’t mind getting his/her hands dirty and is excited about designing a sales program and building a team from scratch.

We are a self-funded and profitable company -- we’ve built a multi-million dollar business and landed an impressive roster of clients without any focused sales efforts. It is now time to get serious about building a repeatable, scalable sales process and going big!  

This role will entail:

  • Working closely with our CEO and our client-facing team (Creative Partners) to learn about our target client and what has worked and not worked for us in the past
  • Owning our pipeline: defining our sales pipeline, setting goals for our pipeline, managing our pipeline and (at least at first) personally moving through each stage of that pipeline
  • Sourcing leads, outbound outreach, scheduling and leading calls/demos, qualifying clients, and making warm handoffs to our client-facing team
  • Lead training on sales best practices for our client-facing team
  • Within 6-12 months, designing a hiring roadmap and leading hiring for our sales team

  • Data driven - you are excited to design thoughtful experiments to measure and maximize the success of our sales pipeline  
  • People person - you enjoy helping clients get to the best answer, and you sell by building real connections between client needs and solutions we can offer
  • A “Brilliant” kind of leader - you are excited to build and manage your own sales team, and partner with our existing team of project managers and engineers but you aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty either
  • Great communicator - you are thoughtful, empathetic and honest, and you excel in building true relationships on the phone, in person and over email
  • Excellent listener - you ask a lot of questions and really listen to the answer. You use those answers to give honest, consultative feedback to clients and our internal team
  • Always learning - you enjoy keeping up with best practices and new techniques, and you want to be an expert in sales and business development
  • Always closing - just kidding, kind of
  • Not above any task - you believe the best way to learn about a process and to learn how to manage a role is to know how to do that role yourself


  • Proven record of success in a senior sales role
  • Ideally, you have some experience selling to sales & marketing professionals, in an agency environment or similar, and/or in SaaS sales

Functional skills:

  • Strong writer - you enjoy writing -- you write succinct, thoughtful, accurate and relevant emails, and you’re not afraid to take on other relevant writing tasks like whitepapers
  • Salesforce - you are very comfortable with Salesforce (an expert, someone less humble might say!), and you’re excited to whip our SDC into shape and organize the crap out of our pipeline data
  • Excel - You excel in Excel. You can successfully Pivottable, Vlookup and generally make data do your bidding
  • Tech-savvy - You're tech-savvy and comfortable with Slack, Google Docs and G Suite

  • You love branding, design and retail -- you will ultimately be selling prospective clients on Brilliant and our mission to bring their brands to life through impactful branded merchandise, creative packaging and thoughtful collateral

  • $75k base
  • $50k commission year 1 / $75k year 2 (estimated)
