GitHub Developer Community Manager

We're looking for a regionally based Developer Community Manager to help grow the GitHub community, identify superfans in that region, and drive the adoption of strategic features.


  • Manages the GitHub developer community within a geographic region
  • Coordinates with social media team and marketing team to help message GitHub functionality and features within their region and engage developers and maintainers in their region.
  • Identifies Superfans, helps grow and manage the *to be re-named* MVP Program
  • Identifies Open Source Projects to target for account management, and feedback
  • Coordinates and organizes Physical and Digital Events to drive adoption of strategic features, and engage community members
  • Advocating for the Community Managers Region, across the org and overall company
  • Work with other Community Managers to define engagement strategy across the company
  • Participating in management conversations about the day-to-day business as well as future direction and strategy of the team
  • Setting a strong example for the team by creating internal documents for knowledge sharing
  • Helping improve and streamline processes and workflow for the Community Management Team
  • Helping define team expectations as the team grows


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical expertise, can write some code
  • Passionate about creating and fostering community
  • Ability to empathize with a diverse range of people
  • A strong sense of empathy and the ability to advocate for others
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience working remotely
  • Familiarity with GitHub products
  • Experience with effective collaboration across teams and organizations
  • Experience writing and implementing process documentation
  • Training experience
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills
  • Project management skills

The position reports to the Head of Developer Relations and works closely with other teams and leaders across the company.
