Zapier Payroll Manager

About You

  • You're a seasoned professional. You have 5+ years of proven experience managing payroll for a company of 200+ employees.
  • Multiple locations? Check! You have an excellent understanding of multi-state and international payroll and have experience managing payroll for US and Canada. Additional international experience is a big plus. 
  • You're in the know. You pride yourself in staying up to date on all current payroll regulations and laws. You’re familiar with a number of HR/payroll systems and advocate best practices.
  • You're a builder. You’ve previously implemented full-scale payroll systems. 
  • You set your own course. You work independently and own your work start to finish. You’re highly organized, understand priorities, and thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • You obsess over the details. You’re analytical, methodical, and work with a high degree of accuracy. You are detailed-oriented and care about the nitty gritty.
  • To you, it's all about the team. You’re a collaborator and can work closely with the people and finance teams.
  • You love to write. Whether it's a quick conversation in Slack or a new policy we're implementing, writing is our main form of communication.

Things You Might Do

Zapier is a small, fast-growing, and remote-first company, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects across the organization. That said, here are some things you'll probably do:

  • Manage all payroll processing and process semimonthly and monthly payrolls in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Ensure all payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises) are entered accurately and timely.
  • Develop and improve payroll processes so they are efficient and scalable.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on payroll issues.
  • Provide world-class customer service and handle confidential concerns quickly and accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local payroll and tax requirements for both US and international entities.
  • Experiment: this is a startup so everything can change.

Location: Anywhere in the U.S. or Canada

Our team of 250+ is distributed because it lets us work with the best people. Some team members live in the United Kingdom, Thailand, India, Nigeria, Taiwan, Guatemala, New Zealand, Australia, and more!
