Upwork Lead Program Manager - Marketing SME

As a Lead Program Manager - Marketing SME for the Upwork Professionals team, you will be the team’s subject matter expert in applying Marketing methodology across multiple client projects from initiation to delivery of work product, and closure.  You will utilize your marketing background to appropriately scope out marketing projects, define resource requirements and allocations as well as costs. You will serve as the Lead Program Manager - Marketing SME for project teams and liaise between the client and your project teams, working alongside the Upwork management team to maintain project compliance.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day operational functions of the Upwork Enterprise solution and be the main point of contact for the Upwork Professional/Client relationship.  
  • Handle intake calls and assign projects to Program Managers.  
  • Approve hours entered by individuals supporting the projects for the clients you manage.  
  • Become the Upwork Enterprise expert on Marketing Project Management 
  • Develop relationships with clients and internal partners, including Sales, Customer Success, and Operations
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Build project plans
  • Coordinate and allocate resources to ensure flawless execution of projects
  • Manage changes to project scope, project timelines and costs
  • Responsible for project deliverables and delivering weekly status reports on milestones, key issues and hours
  • Identify and resolve potential project blockers to ensure continuity with project timelines
  • Actively communicate with all involved parties of the project to identify any gaps, build solutions and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Build and maintain comprehensive documentation
  • Lead and manage resources for all projects
  • Engage in regular standup meetings
  • Source talent on Upwork.com and making job award suggestions to drive successful outcomes for our client
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic platform issues as they relate to the best use of Upwork Enterprise
  • Work with peers and partner teams to develop solutions and deepen the value proposition of the Upwork Professionals

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • Validated program management, project management and/or operational expertise with an advanced knowledge of the Upwork platform
  • Experience with large program administration, including experience working with distributed teams
  • Big plus for experience managing talent sources
  • An active Upwork platform account, in good standing, with a minimum of 500 billed hours, or reasonable achievement equivalent
  • A high level of business insight and enthusiastic professional communication style
  • You have a proven track record in as a Marketing Professional and/or Marketing Project Manager 
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in the Marketing field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You can track multiple projects with many moving parts
  • You have a sense of urgency, initiative, and persistence
