We’re looking for a Senior Learning & Development Specialist to focus on the growth and capability of our Manager population - Someone who’s passionate about empowering Managers to build great teams through community development and focused learning experiences.

What success looks like:
We’ll be looking for the person who takes this role to make progress against the following objectives within the first six months in role.

1. Refine and launch an 18-month “learning journey” for GitHub Managers (example elements: Manager Meetup experience (virtual/or in-person); new manager onboarding; rhythm of the business trainings (rewards, career, performance mgmt); manager boosts (topical learning moments, inclusive leadership coaching, etc.)

2. Strengthen our Manager Community, as measured by engagement in Community forums/events/initiatives

3. Identify a strategy to scale the Community (e.g. through internal influencers)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Focus on the full manager development learning journey from onboarding, integration to ongoing development and the manager community
  • Champion and scale people manager learning initiatives and communities globally across a diverse and remote company
    Create, coordinate, program manage, deliver and maintain the manager learning journey/roadmap from new manager to experienced manager
  • Evolve, maintain and sustain the manager squads and community. Provide the right amount of support and development to Sponsors, Captains and Squad leads
  • Establish metrics and goals that measure the quality and effectiveness of the manager experience
  • Develop strong relationships with HR colleagues, business partners and stakeholders to identify manager development needs based on multiple inputs (data, research, history, innovative learning methods, etc.) to improve their effectiveness
  • Coach for manager effectiveness and team interventions
  • Leverage and maximize the learning and development technologies to reach our global and distributed workforce
  • Partner with HR to understand needs/gaps of managers to improve effectiveness - bringing forward relevant and innovative solutions
  • Implement a multi-year L&D proposal for the manager audience, partnering with the other L&D specialist to ensure all up L&D strategy is comprehensive and aligned to the company goals
  • Lead Manager events (i.e. Manager Meetup) - design and implementation
  • Partner with Microsoft Learning to bring forward, relevant Manager experiences ensuring accuracy and relevancy to Hubber culture
  • Design and implement ROB trainings, as needed across the audiences
  • Partner with internal communications to build out the manager communications strategy and execute together
  • Promote and advocate for learning in the flow of work through resources/support to managers that helps them identify how to create the time and space for learning
  • Empower managers to invest in their learning journey through consistent, relevant, timely and discoverable resources
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Facilitate workshops, offsites, onboarding and other training events, as needed

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following: project management, instructional design, data analysis, interpersonal communication, consulting and facilitation
  • Experience creating and delivering programs to develop managers through formal and informal methods
  • Experience as a people manager
  • Experience consulting with and influencing senior leaders and stakeholders, with a proven track record of establishing relationships, being a trusted advisor and strategic partner
  • Experience in facilitation and adapting content and conversations to meet the needs of your audience
  • Experience designing and delivering learning programs to reflect knowledge in adult learning principles, both inside and outside of traditional classroom environments and for a distributed workforce
  • Knowledge of core learning theories, frameworks, assessments
  • Experience designing and delivering learning solutions for a distributed workforce
  • Ability to define, scope and track metrics - using data to support the learning story
